Nefarious! // Marinate Mix

Nefarious! isn’t just a great producer; he’s also the head of The Soul Dojo. He’s helped put out releases from LAKIM, Abjo, Trebles and Blues and Scrabbles, among others. He’s one of the best advocates for hip-hop out there.

His Marinate Mix highlights his successes as both a producer and label manager. He says, “This mix has some of my favorite joints from various The Soul Dojo releases, music from our homies, and unreleased tracks from our artists and friends.” This is a must listen. Want some hip-hop/electronic jams to coast to? Press play.

Lacuna Manti – The Radiant [Beat Tape]

LA-LA-LA-LA-LAKIM is at it again. This time he brings on fellow D.M.V. producer TEK.LUN to help craft upbeat, wonky, hip-hop joints. They call themselves Lacuna Manti (pronounced: Montee). Yeah, it sounds like a private detective’s name—the kind of private detective that listens to jazz on stakeouts. “Private Manti, Lacuna Manti.” The Radiant is six tracks deep with smashing bass and synth stabs throughout. It sounds a lot like a nighttime bust—speeding through red lights, screeching tires, handbrake, motion blur. This tape is dope.

LA-LA-LA-LA-LAKIM meditates and crafts a few instrumentals for those who believe in higher powers. Prepare to “get lifteeeeeed” listening to these jazzy, soul sweating hip-hop beats.
